About the Conference:
The 1st Annual Create Our Future Together Conference will be held Thursday, November 1st, 2012, at Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette.  This conference is the result of Goal 11 in the Age Well Boulder County Strategic Plan.  A group of community partners including Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, Boulder County CareConnect, and Senior Services in Boulder, Erie, Lafayette, Longmont, and Louisville has convened to plan this event.  This conference is designed to be similar to a national conference (like ASA/NCOA), held locally so more organizations and service providers can send their staff.  Our target audience includes community leaders, decision makers, service providers, faith communities, and advisory board members.  The conference is arranged in three different areas or tracks:  Community Change, Supporting Individuals & Families, and Organizational Development; however attendees may attend whichever sessions they choose.

Keynote address:  The End of Aging, As We Know It
Population aging is creating a tidal wave of change within many industries, governments, communities, businesses and families. What impact are these sweeping changes having on our industry? And, how can you profit from them? By attending this forward-thinking session, you will learn about how the accumulation effect and the latest research in population aging is changing the way we age, driving the global active-aging movement to unprecedented heights. You will also learn what trends are occurring because of these changes, and how they are putting an end to aging as we know it.

Colin MIlnerKeynote Speaker:  Colin Milner, founder and chief executive officer of the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), is a leading authority on the health and well-being of the older adult. For the past four years, the World Economic Forum has invited Milner to serve on its Network of Global Agenda Councils, recognizing him as one of "the most innovative and influential minds" in the world on aging-related topics. An award-winning writer, he has authored more than 250 articles. Milner is a Contributing Blogger to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services' Be Active Your Way Blog, and has been published in journals such as Global Policy. He also contributed a chapter to the book Global Population Ageing: Peril or Promise? published by the Forum in 2012. Milner's speeches have stimulated thousands of business and governmental leaders, industry professionals and older adults worldwide. He hosts the Age-friendly BC Community video series released in spring 2012 by the British Columbia Ministry of Health.
